That's not to say I haven't been busy! Quite the contrary....
So far I've just been focusing on pendants and animal sculptures, but I'd like to eventually branch out into other clay creations: coasters, pots, earrings, tiles, etc.
I'm planning to set up a booth at our local farmer's market in the spring, and I'll be a vendor at the park's spring festival in April. So I've been busy trying to build up my inventory in preparation for that, and stocking my shop AND working on commissions!
So yeah, my fingers have been flying.
My latest completed work is the bobcat:
I am pretty pleased with the outcome, and I am my own worst critic so I guess that means he's alright. :)
Here are a few other pieces I've completed and/or sold this past month:
Pangolin (he sold within 48 hours)
Whale Shark (this was one heck of a paint job - WHEW!)
Californian & Jersey Woolly (commission)
Orchard Oriole (reserved for vendor sales)
Carolina Wren (reserved for vendor sales)
Miniature Poodle (commission)
I love, LOVE making animal sculpture, but it takes a huge amount of focus and time, both of which are in short supply with a VERY busy 2-year-old, but somehow they get finished.
The pendants take far less time to make, but I still enjoy creating them....
It feels so great to create art, and I'm hoping it will be a small way I can contribute to our income while I stay at home with our young son.
By the way, we finally have the new house primed, and will be picking up our paint this weekend!
Renovation progress is slow as always, but just like anything else, somehow it gets done.
